GDANSK MAIN RAILWAY STATION

Construction and detailed design redevelopment project in the team of the Design Department, Investment Office, PKP S.A.
The project seeks to combine utilitarian issues e.g. service points, waiting room, ticket offices with passenger comfort and the historical.
The starting point for the project were historical photographs that show the station just after its opening. The reconstruction project refers to the original condition of the building, e.g. by restoring the original architectural form of the façade and roof, renovating the steel joinery of the windows located in the lobby with glass filling in the form of stained glass, restoring the historical layout of some of the rooms or the colour scheme of the passenger hall.
In addition to the reconstruction and renovation of the main body of the station, the project also envisages the reconstruction and expansion of the transport part connecting the station with the existing city tunnels and platforms.
The investor is at the stage of selecting a contractor for the reconstruction.

ONE LAKESIDE APARTMENT BUILDING

Located on the north shore of breathtaking Lake Coeur d’Alene, this luxury development comprises 64 residential units, a 3-level car park and a small retail unit. The sleek and modern 16-storey tower, with its glass, steel and plaster facade, contrasts with the austere surroundings of this resort. The project also includes a luxurious leisure area with a lounge and club room, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a pool and spa with lake and mountain views.

ALPERT RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL COMPLEX

    We designed two buildings that fit into the modern urban space. Commercial facades surround the entire building, creating a ‘front door’ overlooking the main boulevard. The four residential floors above, are set back from the ground floor to create a terrace arrangement, while allowing as much sun exposure as possible on the commercial facades. The residential facades are interconnected, creating a playful rhythm, but which also provides the privacy of the residential balconies. The building consists of one-, two- and three-bedroom flats. The building features extensive communal spaces for residents, including a rooftop terrace on the second floor with outdoor pools, hot tubs, an outdoor barbecue area and a recreational multipurpose space. One in five flats has a private rooftop terrace and garden.

OFFICE SPACE SPIRE DIGITAL

Located in the Acova neighbourhood of northwest Denver, the building is designed to retain the industrial character of the neighbourhood, yet be welcoming to the neighbourhood’s residential development. Exposed brick walls and wood plank beams recapture the authentic Acova atmosphere, while original artwork creates brand recognition. The bar features 4 large garage doors that connect the new patio and indoor dining spaces. Exposed structural elements contrast with the colours, creating a playful atmosphere and an interesting accent.

ACOVA RESTAURANT

Located in the LoHi neighbourhood of northwest Denver, the development, Acova – the ‘nest’ – is designed to be a distinctive, family-friendly gathering place. Acova has a quirky, industrial feel that pays homage to its original surroundings. Exposed brick walls and wooden beams, reveal Acova’s authentic atmosphere, while original artwork creates brand recognition. One wall features 4 large garage doors that connect the new patio and indoor dining spaces. Exposed structural elements contrast with the colours, creating a playful atmosphere and a new element on the Denver restaurant map.

ELWAY’S RESTAURANT

    The design of the redevelopment is based on materials found in historic western taverns, but supplemented with 21st century solutions and amenities and mountain traditions. The dining space is divided into three distinct spaces surrounding the central open kitchen: a lobby with bar, a dining area and a dining room, with each space having an Elway character. The open shelving system was designed to be both functional and decorative. The shelving system confines the kitchen, providing storage space for kitchen utensils while creating a flexible visual and sound barrier from the kitchen.

MCEL AND NORTHROP GRUMMAN OFFICE CENTRE

Developed using a concept based on aerospace aesthetics, the design team created a modern, futuristic environment that was intended to reflect both the client’s vision and the history of their company. The concept focuses on creating three distinct programme spaces, but keeping them seamlessly connected, flowing and collaborative. The laboratory includes multiple presentation rooms, hospitality stations for visiting engineers, conference rooms and a lounge for informal meetings and socialising. The lab and breakout spaces have been designed using the latest audio/visual, security and internet technologies.

The Cyber Centre Lab space is a room in which to showcase the latest technology in a real-time environment. The Cyber Lab suite includes state-of-the-art audiovisual technology and ergonomic workspaces, visitor suites, a data centre, separate social spaces and a large conference room for presentations.

YABLONOV EDUCATION CENTRE

Author supervision within the TBiARCHITEKCI team.
Creation of a BIM model for the consortium general contractor TBINVEST (coordination of installation subcontractors, guidelines and 3D models for concrete and timber prefabrication, quantitative verification on the model).
The entire facility comprises a total of three buildings including: two teaching buildings and a gymnasium building. In addition to a school for more than 800 pupils, the centre also includes a kindergarten for 250 children.
As part of the investment, sports infrastructure will also be created in the area around the school, including: a football pitch; a multi-functional pitch (for basketball, volleyball, tennis); a running track; a long jump and a playground for the school’s youngest pupils.
The gymnasium building is constructed using traditional reinforced concrete and brick technology with a glulam roof. Both teaching buildings are prefabricated concrete base, 2 floors above in prefabricated timber.

Railway station IDIS

Construction and detailed design as well as author’s supervision in the team of the Design Department, Investment Office, PKP S.A.
IDS – Innovative System Station, is the development of a system design for a modular station, by assumption flexible in the shape of the area, allowing it to be used as a typical design, on the basis of which it can be effectively and efficiently adapted to local conditions and needs.
All 4 pilot locations involved the demolition of the existing building and the construction of a new railway station and a temporary building to ensure the continued operation of the facility during the construction work.

The main functional assumption was to reduce the original usable area and volume of the building (in all cases the existing facilities were oversized, non-functional, difficult and costly to reconstruct) and to adapt the spatial structure of the facility to modern requirements and standards of passenger service, while taking into account the aesthetic qualities of the facility and the use of modern technologies, including renewable energy sources, facility management system or dynamic illumination (lighting up on arrival of a train).

The project envisaged basing the layout on two basic functional and utility modules: the station and the city, which are independent blocks connected by a common canopy – a walkway, creating a kind of ‘gate to the city’, and an additional module of a parking shelter. The building also has a slightly higher accent, the clock wall.

4 pilot IDS stations were commissioned in 2015 and 2016.
